Musical Memories

For the first time ever, I decided to put together a playlist to end the year with. These are songs that seemed important to me in one way or another over the course of "the long 2023." I use that phrase in a way similar to how a literary scholar might discuss "the long 18th century." For me, the year started when I found myself in Korea last October. That's reflected in the image I picked for the playlist on Mixcloud. Many of these songs/artists were newly discovered by me in 2023. For a large percentage of this music though, my history with it goes back further. My only criterion for inclusion was that each song took on new meaning for me during this last year. For some of these songs, you can read what I wrote about them in my musical diary. However, I only started writing that back in August, and have been very spotty about recording the music I listen to. So for most of this music, I've said nothing explicit anywhere on this website. You'll have to use your own imagination when it comes to determining what any of it could possibly mean to me. Maybe in the process some of this music will come to mean something for you too.
